The Jimmy Griffin Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a student-athlete who demonstrates qualities of selflessness, courage, and compassion for others, and lives life to the fullest.
Jimmy Griffin was a junior at Legacy High School and a member of the football team. Tragically, Jimmy passed away in a car accident on October 12, 2003. Jimmy was a giver. He filled people up with a unique ability to make people laugh. Jimmy had a sincere sense of compassion for others, and a selflessness that was demonstrated through his gift of life as an organ donor. It is for these attributes that this scholarship is created.
This memorial scholarship will be awarded to a senior on the Legacy High School football team who remains in good standing and has plans to attend an institution of higher learning (2-year, 4-year, or Trade School). This scholarship has no bearing on the position or performance on the football field.
